Dr. Danika grew up on the mainland and in Kailua-Kona. She studied Social Work at Seattle University because she was drawn to the biopsychosocial approach that impacts an individual’s wellbeing. She wanted to practice medicine through this lens and found that the holistic approach of naturopathic medicine aligned very nicely. She received her Naturopathic Doctorate (ND) degree and Masters in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA in 2010. She also completed additional hands-on training in Shanghai, China through the prestigious Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a member of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and Association for the Advancement of Restorative Medicine (AARM).
Dr. Danika loves integrating Eastern and Western philosophies into her treatment approach. She enjoys sharing the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) interpretation of her patients’ conditions and how that corresponds with their Western diagnosis. She looks beyond what’s at the surface and is always striving to dig deeper to address the underlying cause. Beyond that, she is an intuitive healer and patients appreciate her gentle approach and calming demeanor. She is passionate about helping patients overcome their health challenges so they can live their best life.
She specializes in treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, fibromyalgia, traumatic brain injuries, hormonal disorders, menopause with or without bioidentical hormones, healthy aging, thyroid conditions, and a wide variety of pain conditions.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her emotional support dog, Yoshi. She loves being in nature, the beach, hiking, and cooking. She is also a member of the Kona Lions Club, where she enjoys volunteering her time to better the local community and the environment. She recently moved back to Kona to be closer to family and to get back to her roots.
